Fly fishing during the day is most enjoyable especially when you are getting more catch with your casts. Aside from the help you are getting from the sun on broad daylight, you can see clearly all what is in front of you. Telling where a fish can possibly be, the behavior of the water, the clues that nearby bushes and logs indicate are all a big help. But have you ever thought of fly fishing at night? When everything else is difficult to spot from your location?
Fly fishing at night is difficult. If you think you have more to learn about fly fishing during the day, don't think about going on a night fly fishing just yet. Even fly fishers who have done hundreds of perfect casts during the day, shouldn't hop in to the idea of fly fishing at night. There may be abundant of things one have learned about day fly fishing, but at night, it is a completely different matter.
Unfortunately, there may have been a number of fly fishers who have gone fishing at night in a completely unfamiliar area; if not with a companion, most likely, all alone. There can be more danger with an attitude like this. Using the reason "out of curiosity" isn't even a good one since, for one thing, curiosity can bring more danger than harm. Not that fly fishing can become very dangerous for an adult, but it is far better to take precautionary measures in doing things such as night fishing.
Here are 7 don'ts you should bear in mind:
- Don't go fly fishing alone. You'll never know what could happen in the dark.
- Don't try to go fly fishing at night especially when you are not familiar with the area.
- Don't be too confident of fishing at night.
- Don't forget to bring emergency lights with reliable batteries; a spare one is even better in case the first one dies out.
- Don't forget to bring torches as well.
- Don't go out fly fishing in the night without protective gear against the cold.
- Fly fishing at night takes an immense amount of patience. So, unless you are ready for repetitive casting, don't even think about night fly fishing.
